I don't know how to get a photo; think you'll have to visit to see it. In the center of the house is the stairway, going from a little hall right up to the the landing at the back. Then there is the second tier of steps going to two bedrooms. The fan is at the landing, facing the outdoor upstair back wall, (no wall), sucking the outside air in. When not in operation it is closed off by a door.

I'll try to provide your serpentude with an illustration if I can figure out how.Mary Loishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01515655542270431289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21825814.post-1155070629549070062006-08-08T13:57:00.000-07:002006-08-08T13:57:00.000-07:00It's in the attic, blades facing the floor, with ve...It's in the attic, blades facing the floor, with vents that automatically open when fan is running. A good attic fan can suck the cobwebs right through the cracks in the door casings. A reduction in air temperature is prevalent due to the venturi effect as well as the evaporative nature of moving air. You have to open windows to operate an attic fan, and you can control the draft by the window selection. Blades are likely a minimum of 48 inches.
The fan blows up into the attic where the air escapes through eave vents and the like. The attic fan is not so good for candle light dinners.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21825814.post-1155054252640047572006-08-08T09:24:00.000-07:002006-08-08T09:24:00.000-07:00Fair Hope, I'm having difficulty picturing the att...Fair Hope, I'm having difficulty picturing the attic fan and it's placement therein. Is it possible you could snap a pic of it and post it, thus significantly uncomplicating my life?

Thanking you in advance for your kindness and consideration, I remain your humble serpent,

B.
